How To Use
TEMPERATURE
To create a safe sleeping environment, consider the room temperature.
The SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit has a TOG rating of 3.8. We recommend dressing your baby in just a nappy or a single layer of lightweight cotton underneath the Sleepsuit, depending on the room's warmth.
To gauge your baby's comfort, feel their back or tummy; it should feel warm. Don't worry if your baby's hands and feet feel cool; this is normal. If your baby shows signs of overheating, such as sweating, remove a layer of sleepwear or adjust the room temperature accordingly.
As with any baby sleep product, it's essential for parents to actively supervise their baby while they are in the Sleepsuit and ensure that the baby's room maintains an appropriate temperature.
TIMING
When to transition to the SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit.
The Sleepsuit has been created for use between a specific developmental window - when babies are showing signs of wanting to break out of the swaddle into an arms free sleeping bag. The transition out of the swaddle occurs when your baby begins showing signs of rolling, which can happen at various ages. A common timeframe is between 3 to 6 months old. Look out for these signs:
- Attempts to roll their body when unswaddled.
- Demonstrates strength by pushing up on their hands during tummy time, sometimes lifting one hand off the ground.
- Becomes fussy or resists the swaddle, indicating a readiness for change.
- Experiences disrupted sleep, often trying to free their hands or bring them close to their face when swaddled.
When you notice these signs, it's time to introduce the SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit.
The SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit can be worn for as long as required, provided your baby is only sleeping on their back.
The Sleepsuit is specifically designed for back sleeping. We dont reccomend it be used in any other sleep position, including tummy sleeping.
Once your baby shows signs of rolling over or attempts to roll while wearing the SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit, it's time to transition to a sleeping bag. Typically, by this stage, the startle reflex has calmed down, making the move to a sleeping bag much smoother.
The decision to transition your baby from a swaddle should be based on your baby's unique needs, rather than relying solely on their age. Pay close attention to your baby's sleep behaviour and adapt accordingly.
FIT
Ensure the SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit fits for your baby's safety and comfort.
Here's what to consider:
- The Sleepsuit should be snug enough to prevent your baby from wriggling their arms and legs out of the openings.
- Check the Length: You should be able to see both your baby's feet and hands through the Sleepsuit. The sleeves and legs should reach the wrists and ankles comfortably and can be cuffed to ensure you can see both hands and feet.
- The neck should lie flat against the chest, away from the face, with no gaps that would allow the shoulders to slip out.
- The Sleepsuit should offer a cozy fit through the body, allowing room for hip rotation without providing so much space that the legs can be pulled up inside the suit.
- To ensure the right fit, it's a good idea to start using the Sleepsuit during daytime naps initially. This allows you to monitor your baby's comfort and ensure the size is appropriate.
- The Sleepsuit is designed for babies aged 3-6 months and is most suitable when your little one weighs atleast 6kgs or more and is consistently wearing 3-6 months size clothing. Introducing it too early may result in the startle reflex still being too strong to provide full effectiveness, and there might be excessive room for your little one to wriggle. When the SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit fits correctly, it offers the snug, secure sensation of a swaddle while enabling your baby to move more freely as they develop.
- Bear in mind that these size ranges are provided as general guidelines, recognizing that each baby may have unique body proportions that can impact the fit.
Remember, a well-fitted SNOOZYBABY Sleepsuit provides your baby with a sense of security and comfort, making bedtime a tranquil experience for both baby and parents.
